Jonava nursery-kindergarten “Žilvitis”.
History and present days.
Nursery-kindergarten “Žilvitis“ was established on the 6th of April in 1992 when 20 teachers started the pre-school education process for 170 children.
According to the Vision and Program, approved by the Ministry of Education and Science, education process in “Žilvitis“ (English – Willow) is based on national culture, wisdom, traditions, history, art and moral values.
“Žilvitis“ accumulated authentic learning material and conducted active ethnic education. It was the reason for involving kindergarten into international project “Lithuanian ethnic values in Europe” in 1996. Eight teachers were granted with the names of ethnic education consultants for their achievements and competencies in this field. There were 12 programs of education prepared and introduced in various states’ and regional seminars or conferences held to discuss the issues of ethnocultural program integration into pre-school education process. In 1996 there was childrens’ folklore ensemble “Malūnėlis“ established. Led by the teacher Irma Jefimova “Malūnėlis“ participated in Lithuanian Song Celebration 2007 “In the Circle of Life”. The ensemble was awarded with Lithuanian Folk Culture Centre’s medal. “Malūnėlis“ is the laureate of various competitions held in Lithuania, Kaunas and Jonava districts. In 2016 “Malūnėlis“ is celebrating it’s 20th years anniversary.
Since 2002 children can attend the lessons of art studio “Vaivorykštė“. Together with the art teacher Regina Jegorovienė they participate in different competitions and are awarded with diplomas or presents.
In the year 2000 there was the project “Our roots and environment“ created. It became continuous in 2002. Constantly udjusted and renewed this program is the foundation of our education process up to now.
In 2012 m. “Žilvitis“ celebrated it‘s 20th anniversary. According to the Strategic plan 2016-2020 the main uniqueness and policy is ETHNOCULTURE. All the specialists and teachers follow this policy while planning their work and activities for children.
There was a competent team of administrative staff gathered in “Žilvitis“: the principal Vitalija Jagelavičienė (II managment category), deputy for education Jurgita Petronytė (II managment category) and deputy for economy Diana Januškienė.
All the teachers are highly educated and have required education level: 11 of them have university degree, 13 – college degree. The qualification of teachers is as follows: 6 methodologists, 1 music methodologist, 1 speech therapist methodologist, 11 senior teachers, 2 pre-school education teachers.
Aesthetic and creative educational environment plays a significant role in comprehensive education process. For that purpose kindergarten is constantly renewed and supplied with new learning tools, educational materials. In 2012-2015 all the groups and kitchenette were renewed with new furniture and dishes. The renovation of kitchenette, new fence, security cameras system was funded by municipality. Thanks to 2 % of Resident Income Tax and kindergarten’s savings children can enjoy the new playgrounds and sandboxes.
In 2013-2014 institution participated in EU Modernization Project. During this Project the new methodological room was founded, two groups were fully and two partly renovated.
There are 27 teachers now working in “Žilvitis“. 244 children attend the kindergarten. There are 2 pre-primary, 2 nursery and 8 pre-school groups in “Žilvitis“.
The community of “Žilvitis“ is very glad about close collaboration with social partners: other pre-school institutions, Raimundas Samulevičius progymnasium, Municipal Public Library of Jonava District and Jonava Regional Museum.
